Now for those of you who actually read, here's the transcript

"So what brings you here?"

Somewhere along the line, when you meet a fellow expat, this question (or some form of it) will inevitably arise in discussion. The plethora of answers range from "I was bored" to "I need money." The communal factor within our "Korea Stories" is that for whatever reason, this, being here, is better than whatever we left behind, at least for this moment in our lives. (I guess this is obvious, or we wouldn't be here) For personal reasons, we each chose to uproot and leave.

What's my Korea Story? Lets just say at some point during my 9-5 daily grind, I looked up from my computer screen, took a good look around and said "okay, no more of this." Don't get me wrong, things weren't horrid, but I was becoming complacent and comfortable, and that was something I didn't want to be. I'm still not sure who I want to be, but I'm damn sure about who I don't want to be. So at the brink of my existential crisis (which by the way is nowhere near over) I decided to take a leap, half way across the world, and now here I am.

Why South Korea? Mere chance. Clicked on a pop up, kept clicking, did research and viola. Okay rewind, actually, there are multiple reasons for my leaving, but I'll reveal them as pertinent situations arise. With that said, I'll at least leave you with reason #1.

Reason #1: If I stayed in Los Angeles, I'd probably still be working a 9-5 job right now, saving money to move out, and all the while wondering, longing, with a hint of ache, "what if...?" - I wasn't sure how long I could sustain sanity and ingenuity with that mindset...So, I decided to leave.
